Renters must be at least 25 (or 21–24 with a daily surcharge), and a valid driver’s licence (of course) plus a major credit card with at least $500 available are required. The cardholder must be present at pickup, even if they aren’t driving. Additional drivers are welcome with a copy of their licence and a possible small surcharge. Flexible extensions are usually possible with a quick call, and after-hours returns are easy via their secure key drop box (though the rental remains active until staff check it in during business hours).
Lo-Cost allows travel outside British Columbia with front-desk approval—a small border fee may apply for U.S. trips. They offer various Collision Damage Waiver and Supplemental Liability insurance options to help limit responsibility, while reminding customers to check their personal auto, home, or credit card coverage. Parking tickets and traffic violations stay with the renter, and cancellations require at least 48 hours’ notice to avoid fees!
